Dear Global Family of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons,
On behalf of the South African Society of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons, it is an honour and privilege to welcome you to the SASMFOS Congress 2025.
This year we have themed the congress to address the challenges of OROFACIAL PAIN AND TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDERS.
We are bringing together an incredible group of local and international experts, who will present current and developing trends; and share with us their insights, experiences, knowledge and skills in the diagnoses and management of these conditions.
In addition, we have put together a Pre-Congress Course event which includes an Implantology Workshop as well as a workshop on Distraction Osteogenesis.
We have also included in our Pre-Congress Programme, an event to assist fellow dental and medical colleagues and other health care professionals who encounter patients with these conditions and who can offer adjunctive and supportive therapies for our patients.
This year, our Congress Committee decided on the concept of a post Congress hands on programme which will allow attendees to immediately engage, practice and develop skills discussed during the formal speaker presentations.
To this end, we have opportunities for attendees to register for either:
- An interactive planning and dry lab programme for TMJ Surgeries
or
- A hands-on wet lab session encompassing TMJ Arthroscopy and TMJ Replacement
Our pre and post Congress events have limited seats available and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so I encourage you to act promptly to ensure your participation.
Our Congress will be held at the Lord Charles Hotel located at the foothills of the Helderberg Mountains in Somerset West. We will be in close proximity to beautiful landscapes, nature reserves, world renowned vineyards, the cheetah sanctuary, historic towns, picturesque beaches and much more. To our international attendees and country colleagues from outside of Cape Town, we hope that you have some time to enjoy Cape Town, voted again as one of the best cities in the world.
Apart from our academic programme we have a wonderful cocktail evening and Gala dinner
planned. We look forward to >building >new relationships and strengthening old friendships.
